World Missions is now accepting Preliminary Applications from Career Missionary Candidates for 2009. Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2009.
Career Missionary Candidates are defined as those who have been appointed to a minimum of four years of service on a foreign field by an approved mission board.
In keeping with the goal of World Missions to minister strategically internationally, the following guidelines—in order of preference—have been approved for the selection of candidates for financial support.
1. The candidate has grown up in First Presbyterian Church or is a long-time member.
2. The candidate has a strategic position of facilitating the work of nationals on a wide-scale basis in an area of focus or targeted people group as specified by the World Missions Executive Committee.
3. The candidate is assigned to a partnership ministry, an area of focus, or targeted people group as specified by the World Missions Executive Committee.
4. The candidate is assigned to the team of a currently-supported missionary and his/her/their addition to the team would be strategic for the success of the ministry.
Additionally,
- The candidate who has grown up in First Presbyterian Church or is a current member has made a significant contribution to the ministry and life of the church.
- The qualifications and experience of the candidate are such that the impact of his/her ministry would be substantial and sustainable.
- Candidates who have applied previously and were not interviewed or selected on their first attempt may be considered a second time—particularly if their ministry falls under Guideline Nos. 2, 3, and 4.
