Randy Nabors and his wife Joan grew up on the same inner-city block in the projects of Newark, NJ, and came to faith at Calvary Gospel Church. Randy and Joan both went to Arts High School in Newark and Covenant College on Lookout Mountain, GA. They were married in 1971.

Randy has a Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary, served as an Army Reserve Chaplain, deployed for both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, and retired as a Colonel. Randy and Joan were part of the team that planted New City Fellowship in Chattanooga in 1976. New City grew to be a network of Urban & Cross-Cultural churches, especially focused on the poor and underprivileged. Randy and Joan served as MTW missionaries to Kenya, pastoring a church in the city of Nairobi. Randy served both as the Coordinator for Mercy Ministries and the Coordinator of the New City Network for Mission to North America. He has studied Urban Missions at Westminster Theological Seminary and is presently working on a Doctor of Ministry in Inter-Cultural Studies at Covenant Theological Seminary. He and Joan have four grown children and a multitude of grandchildren.
